The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall’s autumn tour has moved on to Malaysia, with the couple spending their first full day of engagements there on Friday.

Charles and Camilla spent the majority of the day undertaking individual engagements.

The Prince first indulged in his passion for Islamic art and culture during a tour of the Islamic Arts Museum alongside Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah, the Sultan of Perak; before visiting a co-working space for start-ups (where he tried out a Tardis!) and launching the Commonwealth Youth Summit at the University of Nottingham’s Malaysia campus.

Prince Charles and the Duchess joined up for an audience with the Malaysian King (the Yang di-Pertuan Agong), Muhammad V, the Sultan of Kelantan.

In the evening, the couple were guests of honour at a gala dinner at the Majestic Hotel in Kuala Lumpur to celebrate sixty years of British-Malaysian diplomatic ties. Among the 550 guests was renowned shoe designer Jimmy Choo.

The Prince delivered a speech at the gala, speaking of the “vibrant and dynamic” relationship Britain and Malaysia have shared over the decades, which is “vitally important for the prosperity and security of both”. Read his full speech here.

Charles and Camilla will be in Malaysia until the end of Wednesday, when they will travel to India.
