Cambridges in Heidelberg For Second Day of Tour’s German Leg

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge visited their dukedom’s twinned town, Heidelberg, on July 20th, the penultimate day of their trip to Poland and Germany.

They first stopped in town where they made pretzels and traditional German sweets. During a tour of the market, William and Catherine met with the town mayor, Eckart Wuerzner, before tasting some local beer and visiting the German Cancer Research Institute.

The couple later participated in a boat race along the River Neckar, where William said “this could be a challenge” and Kate added “I hope to beat my husband”. William dashed his wife’s wishes as his boat crossed the finish line first, the couple later toasting their race with a stein of beer.

William and Catherine attended a reception in the evening at Clärchens Ballhaus.

During the rowing, Kate wore a blue and white striped top followed by a yellow LK Bennett dress to tour around the town.
