Brilliant in Blue: Queen Elizabeth Visits Royal Society of Edinburgh

For her last engagement of Holyrood Week, Queen Elizabeth paid a visit to the Royal Society of Edinburgh Friday where she presented the annual Royal Medals to three individuals.

This year’s medals went to Professor Peter Boyle Corr for his contribution to global cancer control, Professor Tessa Holyoake for her contribution to the field of life sciences, and Donald Runnicles for his contribution to music on an international level. The Royal Medals have been presented each year since 2000, when they were implemented by the Queen.

Her Majesty wore a lovely sky blue coat over a matching white and blue floral frock, and a matching hat, for the event.

The Royal Society of Edinburgh, of which the Queen is patron, is an educational charity that aims to “provide public benefit throughout Scotland”.
