Now That’s A Cake! Queen Paola Celebrates 80th Birthday Surrounded By Family
A special concert was held on Thursday evening at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel in Waterloo to celebrate the eightieth birthday of Belgium’s former Queen, Paola.
Queen Paola, whose birthday is on September 11, was joined by almost all of her descendants – King Philippe and his wife Mathilde with their four children; Princess Astrid and her husband Lorenz with four of their five children (Princess Maria Laura was absent), their daughter-in-law Elisabetta and granddaughter Anna Astrid; and Prince Laurent (who was late and missed the concert) with his wife Claire and their three children.
Afterwards, the family gathered in the gardens where a gorgeous multi-tier cake, created by Wittamer & Co, a Brussels chocolatier that is a Purveyor to the Belgian Court, was presented to Queen Paola.
The celebration was arranged by the Queen Paola Foundation, the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel and Missing Children Europe, of which Queen Paola is chairman of their committee.
