The Prince of Wales paid a visit to the Muslim Welfare House in Finsbury Park on Wednesday, where he met with members of the Muslim community following the van attack on a group leaving Ramadan prayers in the early hours of Monday morning.

“Her Majesty has specifically asked me to tell you how shocked she was by what happened, particularly as the victims were worshippers who had been attending Ramadan prayers – and her Majesty’s thoughts and prayers are with you all,” Prince Charles said to the group, before reiterating his “great interest in the Muslim community” in Britain.

Among those the Prince met was the Imam of the nearby Finsbury Park Mosque, Mohammed Mahmoud, who shielded the perpetrator of the attack from attack after the incident. Charles called the Imam’s actions “remarkable” and that he was “deeply impressed” by them.

One man died following the attack, though police are still determining the cause of his death as he had collapsed prior, and nine others injured.
