A Visit to SOS Children’s Villages in Lebanon For Princess Margriet
Dutch Princess Margriet paid a visit to Lebanon on Sunday and Monday in her role as patron of the Dutch branch of SOS Children’s Villages. She was joined by singer Jan Smit, who is an ambassador of the organisation.
The duo began in Khonshara where they visited the Interim Care Centre, where Margriet and Jan were given a tour of the centre by staff who told them about the assistance they provide to families. They also visited informal settlements in Beqaa Valley, where Syrian and Lebanese families are cared for through the SOS Family Enhancement Program with the aim of keeping families together in times of crisis.
“It [SOS Children’s Villages] provides complete care,” Princess Margriet said of the organisation’s work.
The Princess’s visit was made in the lead-up to World Refugee Day, which is June 20. Princess Margriet has been working with SOS Children’s Villages since 1984.
