It was not difficult to spot Mike Tindall on the golf course at The Belfry Hotel and Resort in Sutton Coldfield on Friday, as his bright blue comic-book printed golf pants easily stood out on the green.

The former rugby player was joined by wife Zara, brother-in-law Peter Phillips and a number of celebrities and sportspeople for the ISPS Handa Mike Tindall 5th Annual Celebrity Golf Classic, held to raise funds for the Cure Parkinson’s Trust and the Matt Hampson Foundation (which provides assistance to athletes who have suffered life-changing injuries who playing sport).

Zara was seen driven around in a golf buggy by retired Formula One driver David Coulthard, while TV presenter Denise Van Outen – like the other participants – was not fazed by the rain as they hammed it up on the green during rounds.

Mike also spoke with Good Morning Britain ahead of the event, about his father’s battle with Parkinson’s Disease, the reason why Mike started the event in 2012. “He didn’t want to admit something was wrong and 18 months down the line he got diagnosed with Parkinson’s,” Mike said of his father Philip’s diagnosis in 2003.

“He still wants to get out there with Mia, unfortunately he can’t do it to the same level he wants to, his brain wants to. You can see it’s frustrating for him. I would love to see my dad get back what he’s losing over time,” he said.
