Queen Máxima Attends G20 Women20 Summit in Berlin

In her role as Special Advocate of the Secretary-General of the United Nations for Inclusive Finance for Development and Honorary President of the Global Partnership for Inclusive Finance “Global Partnership for Financial Inclusion” (GPFI) of the G20, Queen Máxima was present today, Tuesday April 25, at a panel entitled “Inspiring Women: Scaling up Women’s Entrepreneurship” as part of the G20 Women20 Summit held in Berlin from April 24 to 26.

At the panel discussion were present besides the Queen, the German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Ivanka Trump, daughter of US President Donald Trump, International Monetary Fund (IMF) Director Christine Lagarde, Anne Finucane, vice president of Bank of America, Juliana Rotich, cofounder Ushahidi open source software and Nicola Leibinger-Kammüller, president technology company Trumpf and Chrystia Freeland, Canada’s Minister of Foreign Affairs.

The discussion was focused on the opportunities and challenges of women entrepreneurs to improve the financial capacity of women worldwide. Queen Máxima stressed the importance for women to have better access to financial services as a bank or savings account, insurance, loans and pensions in order to increase their chances of economic development.
