The Duke of Cambridge presided over today’s investiture at Buckingham Palace, where he presented Victoria Beckham and dual Olympic medalist Jessica Ennis-Hill with honours.

Fashion designer Victoria was made an Officer of Most Excellent Order of the British Empire for services to the fashion industry, while heptathlete Jessica was made a Dame Commander of the same order for services to athletics (she was made a Member in 2011, which was upgraded to Commander in 2013).

Both ladies had a brief chat to Prince William as they received their orders.

“It was an absolute pleasure to be at Buckingham Palace today. I’m proud to be British, honoured and humbled to receive my OBE from the Duke of Cambridge. If you dream big and work hard you can accomplish great things,” Mrs Beckham said after the ceremony. Ms Ennis-Hill had a similar sentiment, saying she hoped she can use all that she has achieved to “inspire people and encourage people that being sporty and healthy is a great way to go.”

A number of other British Olympians and Paralympians were among those also receiving honours today.
