Charles and Camilla To Visit Canada For 150th Anniversary
Clarence House has today confirmed that the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall will be the Queen’s representatives at the official celebrations of the Canadian Confederation’s 150th anniversary in the middle of this year.
Prince Charles and Camilla will visit Canada – specifically Ontario, Nunavut and the Capital Region – between June 29 and July 1. The couple were long believed to be the members of the Royal Family visiting in 2017 for the anniversary, after the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge toured in late 2016.
The anniversary on July 1 marks 150 years (a sesquicentennial) since the British North America Act of 1867 came into effect and united three British colonies – Canada, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick – into the Dominion of Canada.
The Prince and the Duchess last visited Canada in 2014.
