Queen Margrethe II of Denmark has today celebrated her 77th birthday at Marselisborg Palace surrounded by her family.

The royals gathered on the terrace at the rear of the Palace to pose for photographs and greet the locals who had come to wish the Queen a happy birthday. The Queen was a stand-out, in an aqua coat and matching dress (aqua was clearly the reigning Queen colour of the day).

Princess Josephine and Princess Athena had the most fun of all the six grandchildren present, dancing to the music to the enjoyment of the crowd (Josephine even ended her ‘performance’ with a bow).

The Royal Family typically attends an Easter church service at Aarhus Cathedral on Easter Sunday.
