Belgian State Visit to Denmark: Day Two

The second day of the state visit started today, Wednesday March 29, with separate events for the Royal Couples.

In the morning His Majesty King Philippe, accompanied by Crown Prince Frederik, paid a visit to Copenhagen City Hall where they were received by the Lord Mayor, Frank Jensen. The King and the Crown Prince attended a presentation about smart urban solutions and renewable energy and the King also signed the guest book.

Later King Philippe and Crown Prince Frederik attended several seminars: the first one was at the Confederation of Danish Industry and it was about the digitalisation of the economy and the innovation; the other seminar took place at the headquarter of State of Green, a public-private partnership founded by the Danish Government, the Confederation of Danish Industry, the Danish Energy Association, the Danish Agriculture & Food Council and the Danish Wind Industry Association and it works in the energy sector. The seminar was focused on the innovative solutions for sustainable development.

In the meantime Queen Mathilde and Crown Princess Mary also had a busy schedule. Their first event took place at Amalienborg where the Queen and the Crown Princess attended a roundtable meeting with members of The Mary Foundation. Afterwards they visited the Amager Fælled Primary School that since 2015 works with The Mary Foundation’s anti-bullying project “Free of Bullying”. During the visit Queen Mathilde was informed about the project.

Then the Queen and the Crown Princess paid a visit to the UN City in Copenhagen where eleven UN agencies are located. They made a tour of the headquarter and met members of the agencies.

At lunchtime King Philippe and Crown Prince Frederik attended a luncheon with Belgian and Danish CEOs meanwhile Queen Mathilde and Crown Princess Mary attended a working luncheon focused on UN’s 17 global goals. Later the King and the Crown Prince visited BaneDanmark, a Danish company that works in the maintenance and traffic control of most of the Danish railway network.

In the afternoon the Royal Couple and the Crown Prince Couple were reunited at the Cinematheque, the Danish Film Institute where took place an event focused on Belgian culture and they attended the opening of a tourism trade fair.

In the evening Their Majesties hosted a concert in honor of Queen Margrethe at the Black Diamond. At the concert were also present Crown Prince Frederik, Crown Princess Mary, Prince Joachim, Princess Marie and Princess Elisabeth.
