A Day In Utrecht For Queen Máxima

Today, Wednesday February 22, Her Majesty Queen Máxima spent the day in Utrecht to attend two events connected with the Oranje Fonds.

In the morning the Queen opened the Buzinezz Forum that aims to fight the youth unemployment and it is directed to organizations, municipalities and social entrepreneurs to increase job opportunities for the young people. The forum was organized by Prestatieladder Socialer Ondernemen, a national instrument that aims to solve social problems and promote the business, the city of Eindhoven and Buzinezzclub, an organization supported by Oranje Fonds and dedicated to the young people of the Netherlands that are in needs to increase opportunities.

In her speech the Queen stressed how difficult it is for young people to realize their dreams and find the right job. Even if with the increase of the level of education, the unemployment has declined, there are still 140,000 unemployed youth. Queen Maxima praised the commitment of the Buzzinezzclub that with training, coaching, mentoring and internship, they are trying to help the young unemployed.

Queen Máxima went on to her next event, a visit to the Foundation Tussenvoorziening and the Poverty Coalition Utrecht. Both organizations are involved in the fight against poverty and social exclusion. They provides shelters, housing and financial counselling to people who are in a vulnerable situation. The Queen met with representatives of the organizations and also the residents of the shelters. The event was in connection with the Oranje Fonds. King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima are patrons of the Oranje Fonds.
