Prince Daniel of Sweden has been joined by theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking to promote the need for increased amounts of physical activity in the world’s population.

Mr Hawking, who met with the Prince and Crown Princess Victoria earlier this autumn at his home town of Cambridge, appears in a video for GEN-PEN, the organisation founded by Prince Daniel through the Crown Princess Couple’s Foundation that aims to “spread awareness and create commitment for children and young people’s health”.

Addressing what he calls “one of the most serious public health problems of the 21st century”, Mr Hawking encourages people to take the simple steps – “more physical activity and change in diet” – to help reduce the amount of people dying from complications stemming from overweight and obesity.

The Prince, who was a fitness trainer and owned several gyms in Stockholm before marrying Crown Princess Victoria in 2010, is incredibly passionate about encouraging children to be physically active for the benefit of their long-term health.
