Princess Marie Pays Low-Key Visit to Myanmar with Relief Charity
As patron of DanChurchAid, Princess Marie of Denmark has this past week spent time in Myanmar, to see how the organisation’s efforts to help reduce poverty in the region is progressing.
She visited the Inle Lake region, which is in central Myanmar, and saw first hand the projects DanChurchAid – a religious relief organisation that aims to help the “world’s poorest to lead a life of dignity” – is working on in the local villages to improve living conditions and ensure the people are able to make sustainable investments and choices.
“It was very reassuring to see how simple tools can help to create better conditions for poor and vulnerable families. They will learn to grow new crops, so they do not just rely on one or a few varieties. This ensures a more stable harvest, while giving a varied diet that minimises malnutrition,” Princess Marie said of the projects she had seen.
