Syddansk Universitet Celebrates 50th Anniversary With Royal Attendance

The Syddansk Universitet in Odense has celebrated its 50th anniversary, and Queen Margrethe II and Princess Marie both made the journey down for the event.

They were welcomed by the University’s Chairman and President of the Student Union, before heading inside for the ceremony, which included the appointment of six new honorary doctorates, musical performances and awards for the teaching staff.

Queen Margrethe was her usual bright self in a red blouse and jacket with matching plaid skirt, while Princess Marie – who had only recently returned from France following the death of her paternal grandmother – kept it simple in navy blue.
