A special screening of Kongens Nei, a film about King Haakon VII’s difficult decision during World War Two whether to surrender or not to Nazi German forces as they invaded Norway, took place tonight in the Jubilee Park at the Royal Palace of Oslo.

King Harald and Queen Sonja invited the public to join them for an open-air cinema evening to end their jubilee celebrations this summer. Over 10,000 people – wearing warm coats and ponchos to keep away the less than pleasant weather – attended the event, as did the Crown Prince Couple, Princess Märtha Louise and Princess Astrid, Mrs Ferner.

Two of the film’s actors, Jesper Christensen who portrays the King and Anders Baasmo Kristiansen who portrays Prince Olav, as well as director Erik Poppe also attended the screening.
