Flashback Friday: The Christening of a Future King

September 2, 1967: Five and a half month old Prince Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands is held by his mother, Princess Beatrix, during his christening ceremony at the Saint Jacob’s Church in The Hague as his father, Prince Claus, watches on.

The godparents of the infant Prince, who would become King of the Netherlands in 2013, were his maternal grandfather Prince Bernhard zu Lippe-Biesterfeld, his paternal grandmother Baroness Gösta von dem Bussche-Haddenhausen, the future Queen Margrethe II of Denmark, Ferdinand Prinz von Bismarck, the former Prime Minister Jelle Zijlstra, and Jonkvrouw Renée Röell.
