Mourners At the Royal Palace in Bucharest
On Wednesday evening, the body of Her Majesty Queen Anne of Romania was moved in Military Ceremony from the Hall of Honour at Peles Caste to the Throne Room of the former Royal Palace in Bucharest ahead of Her Majesty’s funeral tomorrow.
In attendance were Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Margareta, Prince Radu, Princess Elena and her husband, Princess Marie and Princess Sofie who has throughout these last days been accompanied by her daughter.
Following the procession into the Royal Palace, His Eminence Archbishop Ioan Robu of the Metropolitan Roman Catholic Church in Bucharest conducted a religious service inside the Throne Room accompanied by a gathering of priests and nuns.
Throughout yesterday and today, members of the public have been paying their last respects to Queen Anne. As they filed past the flag-covered coffin, quietly and with great solemnity, some wiped away tears, whilst others knelt before it to say a prayer or a few words private words of their own.
