Prince Hisahito Joins Parents On Visit To Niigata Prefecture

Japan’s 9-year-old Prince Hisahito has joined his parents, Prince Akishino and Princess Kiko, on a three-day visit to the Niigata Prefecture in the centre of the country.

They paid a visit to the Niigata Prefectural Museum, where they were shown exhibitions focusing on the snowy life and culture of the prefecture, and got to inspect Jōmon period (12,000 BC-300BC) artefacts. The museum’s purpose is to teach visitors about the prefecture’s “anthropology, archaeology, folklore and history.”

The young Prince was apparently quite interested in the tools used to catch fish.

Thanks to TRF member Prisma for the details.
