The King of Spain has helped mark the 50th anniversary of helicopter units in the country’s armed forces in a ceremony at the Coronel Maté Base in Madrid. Fuerzas Aeromóviles del Ejército de Tierra (Airmobile Armed Forces – FAMET) was established on July 10, 1965 and has evolved since.

After inspecting a guard of honour, King Felipe presented the Coronel Maté award to the Brotherhood of FAMET Veterans. He also viewed an exhibition put together on the history of the units.
