Six-week-old Prince Alexander has joined his parents, Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia, this morning for the official ‘opening of the palace gates’ to mark National Day.

Held in his mother’s arms, Alexander did not appear to be fussed by the cheering crowds as Carl Philip and Sofia (wearing the Swedish national costume) welcomed the public to tour the Royal Palace of Stockholm, free of charge, as per tradition.

Further events will be held throughout the day, including the customary National Day concert later this afternoon.
