Déjà Vu For Guillaume and Stéphanie in Belgium, Wisconsin

Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume and his wife Stéphanie are heading an Economic Mission to the United States this week. Yesterday they went to the town of Belgium in Wisconsin. Although the town is called Belgium, it actually has links to Luxembourg. There is a Grand Duke Henri Plaza, a statue of the Grand Duke and each year the town throws a Luxembourg Fest.

The reason they went the town was however not to party but to visit the Luxembourg-American Cultural Center, of which they are the patrons. In his speech the Hereditary Grand Duke said that the town gives him a strange feeling of familiarity and of a déjà vu. He reminded the audience of the courage of Luxembourg emigrants who left the country in search of a better life in the United States. He drew a parallel with the refugees that are now coming to Europe.

The next stop for the Hereditary Grand Dukes during this Economic Mission will be New York City. They will finish their programme on May 25th.
