Stavanger Newspaper Calls For End Norwegian Monarchy

  May 14, 2016 at 12:42 pm by

The Norwegian newspaper ‘Stavanger Aftenblad’ said in Friday’s editorial that it is time for a constitutional evolution in Norway. An evolution from a monarchy to a republic. They claim that incidents concerning the monarchy are usually swept under the rug, because the Norwegians like ‘such a cosy little family’.

The newspaper has nothing against the royals themselves but they think that the principle is outdated. Furthermore they claim that younger parliamentarians will be in favor of a vote for the republic. The article does not mention a referendum at all, so the newspaper apparently thinks a constitutional evaluation towards more democracy is only worth while it it suits their particular beliefs.

Norway has one of the most popular Royal families! I like the paper say “instances” but list none. LONG LIVE THE KING and the Norwegian Monarchy. This article is ridiculous. I think the Norwegian royals are a perfect representation of the country.

The real problems shall begin once the monarchy is removed.. and it won’t be possible to restore it…- a broken Chrystal vase is unrestorable… … republic can’t be compared to something beautiful, but to night pot…sorry…
