Rain Doesn’t Dampen the Windsors’ Spirits For Garden Party at Buckingham Palace
The dour weather in London yesterday afternoon didn’t dampen any spirits as a garden party was hosted at Buckingham Palace.
Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke of Edinburgh were accompanied by the Duke of York, the Countess of Wessex, the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester and Princess Alexandra of Kent for the party, all bringing out the umbrellas with them as they mingled with guests.
During the event, the Queen was overheard speaking to Metropolitan Police Commander Lucy D’Orsi about last year’s Chinese state visit, saying how the Chinese delegation was “very rude to the ambassador” (Barbara Woodward, the British Ambassador to China) during the visit.

While the uncensored comment – a rare one from the Queen – was thought to possibly negatively impact British-Chinese relations, but a statement from the spokesperson from the Chinese Foreign Ministry gave nothing away on that matter.Filed under The United Kingdom
