On April 22, three days after the birth of Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia’s first child Prince Alexander, a Te Deum service of thanksgiving was held at the Royal Chapel of the palace in Stockholm.

Members of the Swedish Royal Family as well as Princess Sofia’s family were present at the Te Deum, although Princess Madeleine and Christopher O’Neill were not in attendance due to work commitments.

Prince Alexander is the fifth grandchild for King Carl Gustaf and his wife, Queen Silvia. He was born on April 19 at Danderyd Hospitall, and holds the Duchy of Södermanland, which was announced along with his full name Alexander Erik Hubertus Bertil during a cabinet meeting by King Carl Gustaf on April 21.
