A New Prince for Sweden! Princess Sofia Gives Birth
The Swedish Royal Court has announced that Princess Sofia gave birth to her and Prince Carl Philip’s first child – a son – this evening at 6:25pm local time.
The infant Prince, whose name will be announced during a cabinet meeting Thursday morning, was born at the Danderyd Hospital weighing 3.59kg. Both mother and son are doing well.
Prince Carl Philip met with the media a short time ago at the hospital to announce the gender of the baby. He said the pair were “incredibly happy” and that he believes the baby looks like a mix of both he and Sofia.

The newborn has a “good set of lungs” and the new father said the whole experience was “breathtaking”, praising the effort of his wife who did “really well”. They have not 100% chosen a name yet either, there are two options that are in the running…so we’ll just wait until tomorrow!

Excellent news..! Have already read the news of the baby’s name of Alexander – smart choice..! 🙂
Congratulations to the new parents on this lovely occasion.
Wonder how Carl Philip would feel if he and Sofia had changed places? He probably wouldn’t have thought it so ‘breath taking ‘!
