Art & Culture Gala in Copenhagen Sees A Tiara Debut

Queen Margrethe of Denmark may have been the host of this evening’s gala dinner at Christiansborg Palace for members of the art and culture community, but one of her daughters-in-law stole the show in a brand new diamond tiara.

Crown Princess Mary opted to use the event for her new tiara’s debut, though it is not the first time the piece has been seen on the 44-year-old – she first wore it as a necklace in April 2015 at a concert held for the Queen’s 75th birthday. She paired the tiara with a nude dress with a black tulle overlay.

Other attending the dinner were Prince Joachim and Princess Marie (in a navy blue lace evening gown and her diamond floral tiara), Princess Benedikte (in simple black) and Princess Nathalie zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg (in a nude wrap-style gown).

340 guests were invited to the event, feasting on courses of salt cod, marinated shrimp and beef tenderloin. The Royal Danish Life Guards Music Corp provided the entertainment along with PIVOT Dance Company and the Copenhagen Royal Chapel Choir.
