Prince Amedeo Celebrates Thirtieth Birthday
Prince Amedeo of Belgium, Archduke of Austria-Este today turns thirty years old. He was born in 1986 as the first child of Princess Astrid and Archduke Lorenz, and the first grandchild of King Albert II and Queen Paola.
The Prince – who will succeed to the headship of the House of Austria-Este after his father – was educated in Belgium and England, graduating from the London School of Economics in 2008 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Science. Amedeo also completed his military service in Belgium.
Amedeo married Elisabetta Rosboch von Wolfenstein in Rome in July 2014, the ceremony was attended by a number of royals to whom Amedeo is related to from various houses.
Despite some confusion following his marriage, Amedeo is sixth in line to the Belgian throne – it had been believed that, because no official decree was issued at the time by the Royal Court approving the marriage, he had lost his place in the succession. A retroactive degree granted permission was however released in November 2015.
