Alix de Ligne Engaged To Count Guillaume Dampierre

In the French newspaper ‘Le Figaro’, the engement was announced between Princess Alix de Ligne and the French Count Guillaume Dampierre. The princess is the daughter of Michel, 14th Prince de Ligne, and Princess Eleonora of Brazil. Her paternal grand mother is Princess Alix of Luxembourg, sister of Grand Duke Jean.

Count Guillaume was born in if the son of Count Audouin Dampierre and Roseline Alvare de Biaudos de Casteja. He has two older sisters, Géraldine (married to Patrick Vernet) and Laure. Count Audouin own the family business: Dampierre champagne.

It is unknown if the princess retains her succession rights to the defunct Brazilian Imperial throne. At the moment she is 8th in  the line of succession. Her uncle however still expects his family members to marry ‘equally’, which technically is not the case with a count.
