Pierre Casiraghi Competes in Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race
Pierre Casiraghi has successfully competed in the annual Sydney to Hobart yacht race, aboard the Italian yacht Maserati.
The seventh in line to the throne of Monaco was one of the crew on Maserati, which crossed the line fourth, arriving in Hobart just before noon today, local time. Earlier in the week, Pierre spoke with reporters saying that “it has always been a dream” to compete in the race and that “it has always been a tough race because the conditions are so unpredictable.”
Over 100 yachts departed Sydney Harbour on Saturday, beginning the gruelling sail down the east coast of Australia to Hobart, capital of Tasmania. This year’s weather conditions were not favourable, with over 30 yachts retiring from the race including last year’s winner, Wild Oats XI.
