The Norwegian Royal Family today stopped in Vardø, in the county of Finnmark in northern Norway, as part of their private summer holiday.

King Harald V and Queen Sonja were joined by their two children, Crown Prince Haakon and Princess Märtha Louise, with their spouses and their five grandchildren. “We can not just sit and tell them the story. We must show them that too, for otherwise it becomes boring for the grandchildren,” the King said to the press of the visit to Vardøhus Fortress, which was arranged to showcase Norwegian history, according to the Queen.

The family posed for photographs in front of the statue of Haakon VII that is located on the grounds of the fortress. Princess Ingrid Alexandra and her cousin Maud Angelica Behn had their own cameras, a blue and a pink Instax, with them for the trip.
