Indian President Arrives in Stockholm

The President of India, Pranab Mukherjee, arrived in Stockholm today to begin his state visit to Sweden.

Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel welcomed the President at Arlanda Airport, escorting him to the Royal Mews. The Crown Princess managed to keep a hold of her Philip Treacy hat despite the windy conditions that graced Stockholm this afternoon!

At the Royal Mews, King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia greeted President Mukherjee, and the two heads of state then travelled via open carriage to the Royal Palace for the official welcoming ceremony in the Palace courtyard, where the King and the President inspected a guard of honour.

Afterwards, the President had a meeting and a photo session with the Royal Family, including Prince Carl Philip and his fiancé Sofia Hellqvist.

President Mukherjee is the first Indian President to pay a state visit to Sweden.
