Frederik and Mary in Germany, Day Two

Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary began the second day of their business trip to Germany still in Hamburg.

The couple paid a visit to the Holsten Brewery and were shown the brewing process in place. Frederik was even able to take part in the brewing of one line of beer, adding the hops to the mixture. The pair were also presented with the ‘Crown Craft’ beer, a line created specially for the royal visit. The Holsten Brewery is owned by the Danish Carlsberg Group.

Afterwards, they flew south to Munich, where they arrived thirty minutes behind schedule due to a delay with their flight. An official reception and a lunch were hosted by the Minister President of Bavaria, Horst Seehofer, for the royals and members of the Danish business delegation.

It was then on to the reopening of the ECCO Flagship Store, the company has renovated their stores to allow for an increase in Danish products.

The opening of the first Georg Jensen Flagship Store in Munich rounded out the afternoon program, with Georg Jensen’s CEO David Chu welcoming Frederik and Mary to the store on Maffeistrasse. The Crown Princess was delegated the task of cutting the ribbon to officially open the store.

In the evening, Prince Frederik and Princess Mary (dressed in a white and black floral jumpsuit) were present at a dinner at the Residenz Palace where the entertainment for the evening was a performance of Danish composer Carl Nielsen’s works in honour of this year begin the 150th anniversary of his birth.
