Lalla Salma Turns 37

Lalla Salma, the wife of King Mohammed VI of Morocco, turns 37 years old today.

Salma Bennani was born on 10 May 1978 in Fes. Her mother died when she was 3 years old. Lalla Salma graduated from engineering and worked for a few months.

In 1999, she met King Mohammed at a private party, two years later they tied the knot. Upon marriage, Lalla Salma was granted the title of Princess Lalla, with the style of Royal Highness.

Lalla Salama is the first King’s wife to receive a title and to be made public. King Mohammed and Lalla Salma have two children together, Crown Prince Moulay Hassan and Princess Lalla Khadija.
