Royals around the globe have sent their condolences to the President and people on Nepal following the 7.8 magnitude earthquake that ripped through the mountain nation on Saturday.

Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom expressed her shock at the “appalling loss of life and injuries” resulting from the earthquake, offering President Ram Baran Yadav her deepest sympathies. “The thoughts of everyone in the United Kingdom are with the families of all those caught up in this terrible event,” her message concluded.

Norway’s King Harald V delivered a similar sentiment, saying he was “deeply saddened” by the news. “I ask you to ask you to convey my deepest sympathies to those bereaved and to those otherwise afflicted by this disaster,” he said.

The Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, offered his sorrow over the dead, and wished that “Nepal can overcome the effects of this natural disaster.”

Over 4,300 people were killed as a result of the earthquake, with the death toll rising every few hours. It has been the most powerful earthquake in Nepal in over 80 years.
