Scandinavians Attend Sibelius/Nielsen Anniversary Concert

King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden, Queen Margrethe II of Denmark, and President Sauli Niinistö and First Lady Jenni Haukio of Finland this evening were present at a concert to mark the anniversary of the births of two famous Scandinavian composers, Finn Jean Sibelius and Dane Carl Nielsen.

The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra performed two symphonies of Sibelius and Nielsen’s works.

To mark the 150th anniversary, the Stockholm Concert Hall is hosting a two-week festival where the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra will be joined by nine orchestras from around Sweden, Denmark and Finland.

    Your proofreader didn’t do too well. Queen Margrethe is of Denmark, not Sweden.
