Luxembourg’s Grand Duke Henri yesterday welcomed the former President of the International Olympic Committee, Jacques Rogge, to Château de Berg for an audience.

During the audience, Count Rogge (a member of the Belgian nobility since 2002) was awarded with the Grand Cross of the Civil and Military Order of Merit of Adolphe of Nassau, the second highest order of Luxembourg. The order is granted to person in recognition of “meritorious service to the Grand Duke, the Grand-Ducal House and Luxembourg, as well as for their outstanding loyalty to the Grand Duke or his House.”

The two men have known each other for several years, through their involvement with the IOC. Grand Duke Henri has been an IOC member since 1998, while Count Rogge was its President between 2001 and 2013.
