Camilla attended a reception at the Southbank Centre in London in support of the organisation last night, to coincide with the announcement. Among the guests were Grayson Perry, internet entrepreneur Baroness Martha Lane-Fox and Olympian Christine Ohuruogu. The Duchess also got spent a short time speaking with author Catherine Mayer, who has recently written a biography on the Prince of Wales.

Speaking at the reception, Camilla told the crowd, “Supporting the achievements of women – in all walks of life – is hugely important and WOW plays a vital role in bringing the right people together…My hope is that you will continue this all-important work and make WOW an even bigger and better occasion every year.”

The WOW Festival was founded in 2011 by Jude Kelly and the Southbank Centre, with the Duchess being involved each year since. The purpose of the festival is to “celebrate the achievements of women and girls” while looking at the “obstacles that prevent them from achieving their potential and contributing to the world.”

This year’s festival will run March 1-8, ending on International Women’s Day.
