Felipe and Letizia Mourn Bus Crash Victims
King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia comforted relatives of the 14 people killed in a bus crash in south-eastern Spain at a funeral held in Bullas earlier today.
The King and Queen solemnly greeted and embraced the victims’ families during the funeral mass, which was led by the Bishop of Cartagena, Jose Manuel Lorca Planes. The couple also met with emergency service workers.
King Felipe issued a statement on Sunday expressing his “most sincere condolences to the families and relatives of the deceased”, and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
A coach carrying fifty-five passengers flipped and fell down an embankment on Saturday night in Cieza, Murcia. The passengers were churchgoers on their way home from a visit to Madrid for a religious event. 14 of the passengers were killed, with 23 more still in hospital.
