Princess Mary Attends Melbourne Symphony Orchestra Performance
Denmark’s Crown Princess Mary tonight attended the final performance of the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra’s tour of Europe.
Arriving at the Tivoli Concert Hall wearing a navy blue frock coat with a beaded neckline, the Princess took her seat in the audience to watch the concert, which included pieces composed by Berlioz, Strauss, Schumann and Elgar. She was accompanied by the Australian Ambassador to Denmark, Damien Miller, and Tivoli’s music director, Henrik Engelbrecht.
The orchestra landed in Europe ten days ago, and has played five concerts in five cities – London, Edinburgh, Amsterdam, Ulrichshusen and Copenhagen – since. The orchestra’s performance in Amsterdam on Friday coincided with the first funerals of Dutch victims of the MH17 disaster, and the performance of Strauss’ Four Last Songs was dedicated to the victims, receiving a standing ovation.
