He was christened on 2 May 1964 at the Private Chapel of Windsor Castle. His godparents were Prince Richard, Duke of Gloucester, Katharine, Duchess of Kent, Princess Sophie of Hanover, Louis, Prince of Hesse and by Rhine and Antony Armstrong-Jones, Earl of Snowdon. His full name is Edward Antony Richard Louis.

Prince Edward married Sophie Rhys-Jones in a ceremony at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle on 19 June 1999. They have two children, Lady Louise Windsor (born in 2003) and James, Viscount Severn (born in 2007). In December 2001, Sophie had an ectopic pregnancy after she was taken ill and rushed to the King Edward VII Hospital in London.

    Dear Hereditary Princess:

Excellent summary; however, may I point out one typo. It is the Prince Andrew who was born in 1960, not Edward. Thanks.

Happy birthday to Edward. Can I point out to Martha Wong that she should re-read the post by Hereditary Princess. It is quite correct.
