Queen Mathilde Visits Hong Kong

From December 4th to 7th, Queen Mathilde visited Hong Kong, China.

On the evening of Wednesday, December 4th, Queen Mathilde attended the opening of the exhibitions “Dress Code” and “Design in Motion” in occasion of the “Hong Kong Business of Design Week (BoDW)”. Queen Mathilde was accompanied by the Foreign Minister Didier Reynders, the Flemish Minister-President Kris Peeters, the Vice-Minister-President of Wallonia Jean-Claude Marcourt and the Minister of Economy Céline Fremault. The Ministers were already in Hong Kong for the Belgian Economic Mission.
On Thursday, December 5th, Queen Mathilde attended the official opening of the Business of Design Week (BODW). BODW is an annual design event which has been held since 2002. The event includes a design conference, forums, exhibitions and an award presentations. It’s partner country this year is Belgium. The Queen also visited the offices of the Belgian brand “Ice-Watch”. In the evening, The Queen attended the “Surreal Dinner” which took place in the Hong Kong Design Institute. The Queen later met with Leung Chun-ying, Chief Executive and President of the Executive Council of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
During the third day of the visit, on Friday, December 6th, Queen Mathilde attended a reception with the Belgian community that live in Hong Kong. The Foreign Minister Didier Reynders was present too.

During the last day of the visit on December 7th, Queen Mathilde visited the “Benji Center”, a non-governmental organisation that helps children with need of speech therapy.
