Dutch Introductory Visit to Colombia and Venezuela

After visiting the sixth Dutch Caribbean Islands, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima paid introductory visits to Colombia and Venezuela.

On Friday November 22th, the Royal Couple arrived at the El Dorado Airport in Bogota, the capital of Colombia. The King and Queen were accompanied by the Prime Ministers of Aruba, Curacao and Saint Maarten and also the Dutch Minister of Foreign Affairs, Frans Timmermans.

At the Presidential Palace Casa de Nariño, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima were officially welcomed by the President, Juan Manuel Santos, and his wife Maria Clemencia Rodriguez. Then the King inspected the guard of honor and the national anthems were played. After, the Royal Couple and the Presidential Couple went inside the Palace where took place a meeting and then the lunch.

Later King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima opened the Casa Holanda, an agency of the Dutch government which aims to provide the business services of both countries. Then they attended a meeting with entrepreneurs from the Netherlands and Colombia.

On Saturday November 23th, the King and the Queen arrived in Caracas, the capital of Venezuela, at the Simon Bolivar Airport. The Royal Couple was received at the Presidential Palace Miraflores by President Nicolas Maduro and his wife Cila Flores. After the inspection of the guard of honor by King Willem-Alexander, were played the national anthems.

In the garden of the Presidential Palace, the Royal Couple, the Presidential Couple and other guests attended a concert by young band “El Sistema”.
