Qatar’s Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani just concluded a three day visit to Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman and the United Arab Emirates. A Qatari official told AFP, “This was basically a friendly tour, although it also carried a clear political message expressing the emir’s support to the Gulf union initiative presented by King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia.”

The official went on saying “The emir was keen to visit Gulf countries first, to emphasise the strong relations between the six members of the Gulf Cooperation Council.” Sheikh Tamim visited Saudi Arabia in August, shortly after becoming Emir.

Here is a video of the Qatar Emir meeting with Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates:

I am contiually amazed that you place these “royals” in the same league as the esteemed and old royalty of England, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Spain, and Belgium. These desert monarchs are “royals” by the grace of oil and, whereas the old royalty of Europe have accomplishments and reign over thriving, vibrant, and modern democracies where the respect for freedom and democracy are of paramount importance. Qatar? Really now, friends.

Thank you for this video that made it possible to see the regional world leaders who are friendly and, hopefully, ready to synchronize their politics in order to strengthen the economy of their countries.
