King Philippe And Queen Mathilde Continue Joyeuse Entree’s

On Wednesday October 16th, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde visited Gent in the Province of East-Flanders. The Royal couple arrived in the morning and where welcomed in the Provincial Government building by the Governor of the Province Jan Briers and the Mayor of Gent Daniel Termont.

After signing the Guest Book, the King and Queen visited the Saint Bavo Cathedral where they had a chance to check on the works of restoration and they also admired “The Adoration of the Mystic Lamb”,  a polyptych made by the brothers Van Eych. Out of the Cathedral on the Saint Bavo Square, the Royal Couple met people who gathered there to meet them.

The next stop for the King and the Queen was to the City Hall where they attended a performance of a pianist who played “Wonderful Tonight” by Eric Clapton that was played as opening dance at their wedding. The visit ended with a working lunch at the Provincial House.

King Philippe and Queen Mathilde’s next visit was  on Friday October 18th. King Philippe and Queen Mathilde visited Arlon in the Province of Luxembourg. The Royal Couple arrived in the morning at 11:00 am and were welcomed in the gardens of the Provincial Palace by the Governor Bernard Caprasse and the Mayor Magnus Vincent. After signing the Guest Book, the King and the Queen met with many guests like parliamentarians, former ministers, military commanders and representatives from culture, sport, social and economy.

At noon King Philippe and Queen Mathilde attended a working lunch with experts talking about mobility in rural areas and the wood industry. After the lunch the Royal Couple appeared on the balcony of the Arlon Provincial Court. Then the King and the Queen walked to Leopold Place where they met the people who gathered to greet them.

In the early afternoon the Royal couple visited the Campus of the University of Liege. Accompanied by Rector, Vice-Rector, Professors and University students, the Royal Couple visited the Campus who is dedicated in the field of environment.

On Wednesday, October 23rd, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde visited Eupen in the Province of Liege. At their arrival at 11 o’clock, the Royal Couple were welcomed at the city Hall by the Mayor Karl Heinz Klinkenberg.  After signing the Guest Book, the Royal couple appeared on the balcony.

After the balcony appearance, the couple walked the street in Market Square and Church Street. At lunchtime the King and Queen attended a working lunch at the Bosten Hotel. In the early afternoon, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde visited the new buildings of the Parliament of the German community. At the entrance of the Parliament, the Royal Couple was greeted by the Speaker of Parliament, Ministers and the Governor of the Province. The Royal couple also participated in the academic session named “40 Years of autonomy” to mark the fortieth anniversary of the German-speaking community.
