Princess Benedikte was pretty in floral and fuchsia yesterday when she opened the seventh annual Nordfyns Rose Festival in Bogense.

Wearing a floral dress, ice blue blazer and fuchsia hat, the Princess was joined by the Mayor of Bogense to open the festival in the square in front of the Bogense Town Hall. This year’s theme is ‘Everything From the Sea’, and as such, one of the features of the festival is an octopus shaped out of pink roses.

Benedikte toured the festival, looking at the various exhibits on show, and also witnessed the baptism of a new white rose, the Claus Dalby, named after a Danish flower expert and publisher.

She was also given a bouquet of pink Berleburg roses, which are part of the Slots Kollektion (Palace Collection), a series of antique-looking roses named after various palaces (others include Fredensborg, Schackenborg, Graasten and Stockholm). The Berleburg rose has won twenty-one international awards.
