Willem-Alexander & Máxima Visit Luxembourg
The King and Queen of the Netherlands paid an introductory visit to Luxembourg on Friday May 24th.
King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima were greeted at the Luxembourg Findel Airport by Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa, before the group travelled by car to the Grand Ducal Palace in the capital. Once at the Palace, the royal couples spent a few minutes greeting the crowds and posing for photos before heading inside for a photo opportunity before a private luncheon, where they were joined by Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume and Hereditary Grand Duchess Stéphanie.
In the afternoon, the visiting Dutch monarch met with the Prime Minister of Luxembourg, Jean-Claude Juncker; as well as other members of the Luxembourgish parliament. The King and Queen were later farewelled at the airport by the Grand Duke and Duchess.
This visit to Luxembourg is the first visit to a foreign nation King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima have made together following the inauguration on April 30th. It will be followed by visits to Germany (June 3rd and 4th), Denmark (June 24th) and Belgium (later this year).
