The Prince’s Palace of Monaco today announced the birth of a baby boy for Andrea Casiraghi and his fiancee, Tatiana Santo Domingo.

The infant was born on March 21, believed to have taken place in London. No further details, including the baby’s name, have been released thus far. Both mother and baby are doing well.

He is the first grandchild in both his parents’ families. Should his parents marry as planned (Andrea and Tatiana’s engagement was announced in July 2012), he will become third in line for the throne of Monaco.

One has to wonder: Though bastards are common enough, there used to be social pressure against such happenstance. Now, we are to celebrate it? (I am descended from three of the 9 bastards of James, Vth, king of Scots. I am not being a prude.)

God bless the little one <3 !
Though he is illegitimate we must remember it isn't the child's fault that his parents are bad examples! However, I do not want an illegitimate person reigning.. Though it isn't his fault, he is born before marriage therefore he should not be in line..

  3. Cynthia says:

They need to get married, this is plain silly!

  4. Amanda says:

Why do they need to get married ? Its 2013 not 1813 !

  5. Kellimorgan says:

I do not understand why you care if a person born out of wedlock reigns as a Prince of Monaco. What difference does it make?

  6. Denim says:

Maybe they will marry when they get the little one baptized. Kill two birds with one stone. I like this couple, they are not boring.

  7. Cindy Widya Japardi says:

So strange. They must get married if they want to have a baby!

  8. Jojo Jones says:

The discussion reminded me of Edna Gladney, who established a care facility of children born outside of wedlock and famously said “There are no illegitimate children. There are only illegitimate parents!”
