The Princess and the Foal by author Stacy Gregg is based on Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein’s life story.

The novel is about the Princess losing her mother in a helicopter crash when she was only three years old. Her father, the late King Hussein of Jordan, gives her an orphaned foal for her sixth birthday. Publishing director Rachel Denwood said: “We’re delighted to be publishing The Princess and the Foal. Stacy Gregg has told a stunning story that sits alongside Black Beauty and National Velvet. The fact that it is based on the life of a real princess makes it even more compelling. This is the perfect gift for girls with big dreams.”

The new novel is for readers 9+ and will be published on September 26, 2013 as a hardback.

Princess Haya was born in 1974 to King Hussein of Jordan and Queen Alia, the King’s third wife. HRH is married to Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the ruler of Dubai, and they have two children together, Sheikha Al Jalila and Sheikh Zayed. Princess Haya participated in the 2000 Summer Olympics representing Jordan in show jumping and competed in many international show jumping shows around the world.
